With the transition into 2022, new laws are going into effect on the state level across the country. Included in these new laws are changes that directly affect employers’ paid leave policies, harassment and discrimination rights, and vacation days.

2022

Colorado vacation and overtime change effective January 1.

  • Employers are required to offer paid sick leave to full and part-time employees.
  • Employees will accrue 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked.

2023

Colorado paid family leave deductions to begin January 1.

  • Proposition 118 establishes 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave funded through a payroll tax paid by both employers and employees in a 50/50 split, although employers have the option of paying more so their employees pay less.
