Congratulations, David Mordo, for Winning the NJ Lifetime Achievement Award

May 10, 2023

The following was read to convention attendees:

Webster's defines the word mensch as "a decent and responsible human being and a person of integrity and honor”. I can’t think of a better way to succinctly describe my friend, Dave Mordo.

Mordo started his career back in 1980. Like a Sloth, Dave moved slowly at first. Nineteen years later, he joined the Monmouth/Ocean chapter of NJAHU and immediately began two and a half decades of non-stop committed service to our members.

Dave served as that chapter’s president from 2004 to 2005.

He also served as the chapter’s legislative chairman from 2005 until 2007 and the state legislative vice-chairman from 2005 until 2007.

From 2007 until July of 2011, he served as New Jersey’s state legislative chairman.

In July of 2011, Dave was selected to serve as a member of NAHU’s Legislative Council and in 2016 served as the legislative chair. From there, Dave went on to work on the Finance, Governance, LPRT and Media Relations Committees only to be elected as our Regin II VP.

Basically, he’s defined the meaning of service and commitment and, for anyone who’s ever attended one of Dave’s CE or speaking engagements, figured out a way to entertain us while he imparts wisdom and knowledge. Unlike myself, Dave can talk about any and all subject matter relating to our industry, and he has worked diligently with state and federal legislatures to help educate and craft legislation critical to our constituents.

A few years back, we created the Lifetime Achievement award which was presented for the first time to my dear friend, Joan Fusco, in 2021. Today, this award celebrates Dave, and it also acknowledges everyone in this room that has benefited from his wisdom, unique delivery, and true giving spirit. He has never worked for recognition, but his work is clearly worthy of it. I share the stage today with two individuals who have won virtually every award NJNABIP offers. Please welcome back Joan as she presents the Lifetime Achievement award to “The Professor”, Dave Mordo.
